Adams speak

Sripada, or Adam's Peak, is a 2,243-meter-tall mountain located in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. It is one of the country’s most sacred and iconic landmarks, revered by followers of Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity. What makes Sripada special is the large footprint-shaped impression near its summit, which holds different spiritual meanings across religions:

Buddhists believe it is the sacred footprint of the Buddha, left during his visit to Sri Lanka.

Hindus associate it with Lord Shiva and call it Shivapada (Shiva's Foot).

Muslims and Christians often regard it as the footprint of Adam when he first set foot on Earth after being cast out of paradise.

The pilgrimage season runs from December to May, during which thousands of devotees climb the mountain's thousands of steps. Pilgrims aim to reach the summit before dawn to witness the breathtaking sunrise, which casts a shadow of the peak onto the surrounding clouds—a phenomenon considered miraculous by many.

Sripada is also a symbol of unity, as it brings people of various faiths together. The journey to the top, though challenging, is seen as an act of devotion and self-discipline. Along the way, climbers pass through beautiful forests and hear the rhythmic chants of "Sadhu Sadhu" (a Buddhist expression of r

everence).
